Formative Assessment which is also known as Assessment for learning is a type of assessment that involves an on going process which encourages teachers to use different techniques to generate feedback and improve learning (Tuttle, 2009). Formative assessment can take place in the classroom where teachers use the student’s feedback to extend their learning enabling them to reach their full potential. Shirley Clarke who is referred to as ‘ an expert on practical formative assessment’ has published a DVD and many books on how to best achieve Formative assessment. Many of which would be very useful in helping you to achieve effective Formative assessment in your induction year.
