 For all of you NQTs  here is a brief summary of what Assessment is!

The role of Assessment in learning is a process which involves gathering information about a pupil’s educational attainment in different ways such as monitoring, recording and many more. The main purpose of assessment is to:

– Inform you of where to pitch the next teaching and learning activities

– Provide feedback on a pupil’s academic progress, highlighting their strengths and weaknesses

– Provide information to assist in evaluating teaching

( Briggs et al , 2003)
